Cambodia Gambling Halls

April 15th, 2023 at 1:25

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, features 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities on top of the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
